Naturopathic medicine is a unique primary health care profession, emphasizing prevention, treatment and optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods and substances which encourage the inherent self-healing process. We seek to determine the origins of illness by understanding the body as a complete system rather than the sum of its individual parts; and thus enable the most effective treatments to be chosen for each individual.
See & Treat the Whole Person
Health and disease result from a complex of physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental and social factors. Naturopathic medicine recognizes the harmonious functioning of all aspects of the individual as being essential to health. The multifactorial nature of health and disease requires a personalized and comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment. We take all factors into account to develop a treatment plan that serves the health of the whole body.
We seek to assess risk factors, heredity and susceptibility to disease, and make appropriate interventions to prevent illness. One cannot be healthy in an unhealthy environment, we are committed to the creation of a world in which the body may thrive. Often times simple lifestyles changes can have a significant impact on your wellbeing.
Treat the Cause
We seek to treat the causes of disease, rather than to merely eliminate or suppress symptoms. Illness does not occur without cause. Underlying causes of illness and disease must be identified and removed before complete recovery can occur. Symptoms can be expressions of the body's attempt to defend itself, to adapt and recover, to heal itself, or may be results of the causes of disease.
Educate & Empower Health
A principal objective of Mountain Medicine is to educate and emphasize self-responsibility for health. The more you know about your body, how it functions and what determines a state of health versus disease, the more power you have to create an environment for improved health.
The body has an inherent self-organizing and healing process which establishes, maintains and restores health. Naturopathic medicine recognizes this healing process and establishes a role to support, facilitate and augment this process by identifying and removing obstacles to health and recovery, while laying the ground work for the creation of a healthy internal and external environment.
